Chiranjeevi, other bigwigs to meet Revanth Reddy amid ticket rate row: Reports

After the Telangana High Court on Friday asked the government not to pass orders permitting enhanced cinema ticket rates, an interesting rumour emerged late in the night. A section of the media got the whiff that Chiranjeevi and a few other Telugu film personalities will be personally calling on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to lobby for a favourable policy.

"The heroes and producers of movies releasing for Sankranti will personally meet Revanth Reddy under the leadership of unofficial cinematography department head Rohith Reddy. Information we have suggests that they will request his cooperation in issuing a new Government Order to increase cinema ticket rates by amending GO No. 120," Telugu Scribe reported.

For the past few months, the anti-Congress party media has claimed that Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has been cut to size by the CM himself through Rohith Reddy. While the Minister says he doesn't favour cinema ticket rate raises, a GO gets passed somehow. This happened with Akhanda 2 (the Minister himself said he was not aware of the matter!) and The Raja Saab. When Raja Saab's premiere shows in Nizam got delayed, everyone blamed Mythri Movie Distributors for "poor planning". It is possible that the distributors got confusing signals and had a reason to hope for a favourable GO, which is why they kept postponing the roll-out of online bookings. These are uncertain times for Telugu cinema.
