Why expect high-voltage actioners from Anil Ravipudi, Maruthi?

The KGF movies and the Lokesh Kanagaraj style of filmmaking have changed the mindset of a large section of the audience so radically that all star filmmakers are judged by their ability or otherwise to make high-voltage action dramas. This section of audience members has forgotten the art of appreciating filmmakers who are into comedy entertainers and other such "soft" genres.

In a recent interview, Anil Ravipudi was taken aback by an unflattering question on the absence of violent action dramas in his filmography. He had to sound defensive despite his unbroken track record at the box office. In a sane world, Ravipudi would be expected to be better at comedy rather than switch to blood-curdling dramas.

It's disappointing that directors like Anil Ravipudi, Trivikram and Maruthi are being judged harshly for the sole crime of not making violent movies (it's funny that a one-film-old filmmaker like Srikanth Odela is respected more by this section of audiences just because he makes action movies like Dasara and The Paradise). If everyone were to make high-voltage actioners, the aura around the movies of Prashanth Neel and Lokesh Kanagaraj is going to either increase (because others will suck at jobs they are not good at) or the genre itself will lose its currency (because of the overkill). Do you want that situation?
