Pooja Hegde vs. Nayanthara: Who is going to fare better this festival?

Jana Nayagan, starring Thalapathy Vijay and Pooja Hegde, and Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu (MSVG), featuring Chiranjeevi and Nayanthara, are among the most anticipated releases this festival (although in two different languages).

Let's have a look at the comparative advantages and disadvantages of the two heroines:

Pooja Hegde plays Kayal in Jana Nayagan, a political action thriller directed by H. Vinoth. As Vijay's love interest opposite his IPS officer character, the Radhe Shyam actress benefits from massive visibility in what is billed as Vijay's farewell film before his political plunge. However, a key disadvantage is the risk of being overshadowed; Vijay's mass-hero persona and the film's politically charged narrative center heavily on him. Also, Mamitha Baiju's role has more potential and content than Pooja's.

In contrast, Nayanthara portrays Sasirekha in MSVG, a romantic action family thriller helmed by Anil Ravipudi. As the wife of Chiranjeevi's national security officer, Vara Prasad, Nayanthara's character is integral to the emotional core. This setup allows her space to shine as an assertive spouse. Already, the songs Meesala Pilla and Sasirekha are chartbusters. Both of them feature Nayanthara prominently. The Lady Superstar's reputation for strong, multifaceted roles also is an advantage Pooja doesn't have.

Yet, the Telugu focus of MVSG might limit broader exposure compared to Jana Nayagan's multi-lingual release, and sharing the spotlight with a star hero like Venkatesh could dilute individual impact. Anyways, Nayanthara has seen enough stardom in her career.
