Soori was one of Tamil cinema's foremost comedians before he became a male lead. He is currently doing a sports-based action drama titled Mandaadi.
As per Tamil media reports, the 2026 release is being made on a mammoth budget of Rs 75 Cr. Assuming this figure to be genuine, it beggars belief. Spending a whopping amount of money on a comedian-turned-hero is flabbergasting.
Mandaadi is being produced by Elred Kumar, who once wanted to make a film in the combination of the Allu Arjun-Gautham Menon duo. In a legal complaint he filed against Menon in 2012, Elred Kumar specifically mentioned that despite an agreement to make a film with Allu Arjun, the director moved on to other projects without ever starting the movie or returning the advance.
Soori will reportedly be seen performing stunts without dupes in Mandaadi. "Sources also claim that he underwent rigorous training for the extensive sailboat racing portions," TNIE recently reported. Peter Hein has choreographed the stunts. Our own Suhaas of Colour Photo fame is playing the antagonist. The film also features Mahima Nambiar and Satyaraj.
