Socio-political weight of Parasakthi could tilt Telugu market in favour of rival films

Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi is based on true events and revolves around the Anti-Hindi agitations that took place in Tamil Nadu (then Madras state) in 1965. It depicts the socio-political unrest of the 1960s, including student politics, resistance against language imposition, and ideological conflicts.

It's evident that the film's serious-minded subject won't resonate with the non-Tamil audience unless the narrative is miraculously super-engaging (sometimes, emotions click even when the grand narrative doesn't).

This reality could work to the advantage of The Raja Saab and Jana Nayakudu in the Telugu market. Parasakthi is directed by Sudha Kongaru, a highly effective story-teller. Had the film touched upon a universal subject, the threat from it would have been real.

Considering the socio-political nature of the subject, the makers were advised against doing the film. It's possible that the anti-Hindi movement has been stripped of its ideology-heavy nature to make it more palatable to the non-Tamil audience who plan to watch it on OTT.

Parasakthi co-stars Sreeleela and Jayam Ravi.
