Markandeya is the title of the first movie to be made under Dil Raju Dreams. Its Title Glimpse was unveiled today. Vikranth, who has previously acted in SPARK and Santhana Prapthirasthu, is its hero. Since the movie involves extensive VFX, it will be released only next year. About 20% of the shoot is over.
Speaking at the launch event today, Dil Raju said that Sri Venkateswara Creations has begun a new chapter with the launch of Dil Raju Dreams. "We have produced 60 movies on SVC with a success rate of 80% with frontline star heroes and more than 70% with the rest. Newcomers tend to lose big monies in establishing themselves in the film industry. To platform them, we have launched Dil Raju Dreams. Vikranth invested Rs 20 Cr on his first movie. His second movie made some profit, fortunately for Madhura Sreedhar. Vikranth wants to be an actor, not a hero. He has been a successful entrepreneur. He has struck gold in all the businesses he has run so far. In the film industry, his motto is to become successful here too. When we made Balagam, the media encouraged us. With small films, that's the edge one has if content is good. We plan to release Markandeya for Maha Shivaratri in 2027. Besides this, DRD has finalized four projects, two of which will be made for OTT. All of them will be released this year. When DRD was launched, we received 330 scripts, out of which 200 remain still unread. We will scrutinize them in due course of time," Raju said.
Actor Vikranth said that Markandeya, in Hindu religion, faced a certain problem. The hero in this film encounters a similar problem. And how he overcomes it is what the film is about. "The concept of superheroes is relatively new to Hollywood. In Hinduism, we have had our Chiranjeevis for millennia. Our movie is a modern version of one such story, a mystic thriller derived from our Itihasas. A project like this one needs the right padding and support. Dil Raju garu launched DRD around that time and I approached him. We are a young, motivated team determined to mount the project on a controlled budget. We are using AI for storyboarding. Unwise use of AI will only disengage the audience. Dil Raju garu has been a guiding force. He knows how to control costs, how to do the positioning, etc. We are forever indebted to him for the opportunity. We will deliver the movie in such a way that it matches his standard," Vikranth added.
Directed by Sistla VMK, the film has music done by Hari SR. Jagadish Varma Bhupathiraju is the cinematographer. Art Direction is by S Ram Prasad. Edited by Phaneendra Nalagandla, its dialogues are written by Kalyan Raghav.
