In Funky, Vishwak Sen is Komal, an aspiring filmmaker who knows how to play up film producers. He promises to finish a movie well under a small budget while harbouring hidden motives. A meta comedy set in the backdrop of the Telugu film industry, this one comes from the director of Jathi Ratnalu, Anudeep KV.
Kayadu Lohar plays the female lead; her unintentional digs belittle the male lead, whose assistants are unflattering. VK Naresh plays that unfortunate producer who has just been duped into parting with ten times the initial budget. At this rate, Funky is poised to offer numerous in-jokes. And if the buzz in the media is anything to go by, writers Anudeep and Mohan Sato have indeed packed a satirical punch.
With music composed by Bheems Ceciroleo (Rattatataav, Dheere Dheere and Yama Yamma are out so far), the film has cinematography by Suresh Sarangam and editing by Navin Nooli. Art Direction is by Jonny Shaik.
Funky, produced jointly by S Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya, also features a host of comedians (including VTV Ganesh and Little Hearts fame Jai Krishna). Presented by Srikara Studios, it will head to theatres on February 13.
