Idiot was a blockbuster hit that made Ravi Teja a star. Puri Jagannadh's stamina, too, increased by leaps and bounds after this movie. Without this, the director might not have enjoyed Mahesh Babu's confidence and Pokiri might never have happened.
The rib-tickling Ali comedy track (the 'usuka' reference defined it, with the audience repeating his style of saying it) in the movie was a record-breaking one in its own way. The track, which had Jeeva playing a cop stationed at a check post, was filmed in just four hours. "That day, the weather conditions were not favourable. It was rainy. So, we had to wrap up the shoot fast to avoid interruption. We skipped lunch in the afternoon and shot at a stretch. All my scenes were finished in four hours flat. The film fetched me a Filmfare Award," Ali recently recounted.
The Puri-Ali duo was a super-hit combination in the 2000s. Idiot was a love story that featured Prakash Raj as the heroine's father.
