Legend was a sure-fire blockbuster. Directed by Boyapati Sreenu, it featured Nandamuri Balakrishna in a dual role. The 2014 release was jointly produced by Ram Achanta, Gopichand Achanta, Anil Sunkara, and Sai Korrapati.
In a recent interview, Anil Sunkara revealed that Balakrishna returned a portion of his remuneration for the movie without being asked. "The budget for Legend shot up unexpectedly. At that time, Balakrishna garu voluntarily returned a percentage of his fee," the producer shared.
When Akhanda 2 recently faced financial hurdles, Balakrishna is said to have returned more than Rs 7 Cr during the negotiation stage. Boyapati Sreenu, too, had to sacrifice a portion of his pay, by the way. Without their generosity, the film's troubles wouldn't have ended. Sunkara suggested that Akhanda 2's troubles were orchestrated by some individuals. "Only those in the industry know the secret," he added.
