AP Minister Perni Nani on Tuesday spoke to the media on the proposal of online sale of tickets through a government portal.

The Minister clarified that the cinema tickets will be sold only at the rates fixed by the government. "We are still working on the modalities in collaboration with stakeholders. Even the show timings will have to be held in theatres as per the licence rules. The weakness of the Telugu public for movies can't be exploited any longer. Black ticketing and all will come to an end with this system," Nani said.

The Minister sarcastically hit out at the Opposition by describing them as over-smart. "The online ticketing as an idea was first floated by the Center way back in 2002. All States were urged to take steps to plug pilferages. Since then, various efforts have been made by AP in this regard," he added.

Nani said that tax evasion can be tackled through the online system.
