Speaking at the Traffic Summit 2025, organized by the Hyderabad Traffic Police, actor Sai Durgha Tej opined that community service should be mandatorily prescribed to traffic offenders, because letting them go with fines and other small penalties doesn't suffice. The Virupaksha actor donated Rs 5 lakh to the department on the occasion.

Sai Tej described the police as "unsung heroes". He added that it is only because of the police that one steps out without fear in their minds. "My grandfather belonged to the police department," he added.

The Republic actor suggested that he has been a responsible rider/driver. "I strictly adhere to traffic rules. I have a family to come back to. I am answerable to my mother," Sai Tej said.

He requested everyone to wear a helmet, adding that he could survive an accident on 10 September 2021 only because he wore a helmet. "I am not bringing up the incident to garner sympathy," Sai Tej said. In the past, the actor made a video clip thanking his helmet for saving his life. On the occasion, he recalled his near-fatal experience, saying that he lost his voice and the memory of many incidents post the accident, which left him in a state of coma for a fortnight. The harrowing experience didn't last after two weeks. For weeks, Sai Tej couldn't do basic things like holding a pen. With his motor skills getting affected, he had to fight back to normalcy gradually. He pointed to Tamil superstar Ajith, saying that he always makes sure he is fully protected while racing.

The actor iterated that following traffic rules keeps one safe, as also others who might be harmed by our vehicle if we go berserk.

On the occasion, Sai Durgha Tej also recalled some incidents from the period when he used to go from one production office to another for acting opportunities. They used to put aside his profile just like that, he revealed.
