Brahmanandam attended an event hosted by Mohan Babu on Saturday. On the occasion, the former Telangana minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao was seen being spurned by the legendary comedian. In the now-viral video, Errabelli approached Brahmanandam for a photo while he was rushing to enter the venue. Many called the behaviour rude.
Brahmanandam, on Sunday evening, addressed the backlash in a video message, clarifying that he and Errabelli share a warm, 30-year friendship and the exchange was light-hearted. He explained he was running late, politely said "wait" amid their casual banter, and hurried inside, with no offense intended.
"When I saw the video clip involving us, I found it funny. Many have misunderstood my behaviour in the video. I and Dayakar Rao garu have a lot of respect for each other. I didn't push him aside intentionally. We interacted casually after the incident. He feels that my behaviour has been wrongly interpreted as disrespectful. I am making this video to put the record straight," Brahmanandam said.
