The Cyber Crime Station has arrested a person named Immidi Ravi, who was operating iBomma from the Caribbean islands. The Rs 3 crore in the bank account of the individual, who arrived in India from France yesterday, has been seized.

The arrest of the iBomma admin is part of an unprecedented crackdown on piracy.

In September, the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police announced the bust of a humongous movie piracy racket, possibly the biggest one to ruin the financial back of the Telugu film industry. Five arrests were made at that time. They were responsible for bringing out, distributing and monetising pirated versions of movies like Hari Hara Veera Mallu and Game Changer. The individuals involved in this piracy entirely relied on cryptocurrencies for financial transactions. An accused named Ashwani Kumar earned $800 for each leaked HD film. One mastermind earned Rs 2 Cr by uploading an estimated 500 films since 2020.
