ETV Win issues statement after casteist scene sparks outcry

ETV Win has responded to the outcry over a "controversial" scene in one of its latest Originals. In the contentious scene that has sparked online backlash, a young college student delivers an emotive speech to his fellow students from the same caste in a hostel dormitory. 'C How Dare' is written on a black board behind him, making the caste name not-so-obvious. "We are going to stay united and never tolerate anybody who mocks our (caste) heroes and leaders," the student leader thunders, indoctrinating his friends to be watchful. At the end, he brainwashes everyone to describe Chandini Chowdhary as their favourite heroine.

Many Netizens questioned the inclusion of such a scene, arguing that it makes it seem like only one caste group is irrational. Following threats by them that they would uninstall the ETV Win app, the OTT platform promised to be careful in the future. "Moving forward, we will be more careful and considerate to ensure our content reflects the values of respect and inclusivity. Thank you for your understanding and continued support," the streaming platform said.
