Remember the character Divya in Chandramukhi 2, whom the titular spirit character possesses? Her name is Lakshmi Menon. A criminal complaint has been filed against her in Kerala. The allegation is that she and her three friends kidnapped a techie for a brief while before letting him go.
Lakshmi Menon, it was confirmed today by the police, assaulted a techie in an inebriated state. No motive has been alleged so far. It seems Lakshmi picked up an argument with the IT professional at a restaurant. She and her female friends don't know him personally.
The actress made her acting debut in 2011. While Lakshmi Menon is a Malayali, it was Kollywood that embraced her and offered her best roles, in movies such as Kumki and Ajith's Vedalam. Chandramukhi 2 was supposed to launch her career in other languages, but the film tanked at the box office. She is a recipient of a Filmfare Award South, one Tamil Nadu State Film Award and two SIIMA Awards. While she hasn't acted in a straight Telugu movie, many of her Tamil movies have been dubbed into the language.
