AP vows to become India's most film-friendly state with new film tourism policy

Addressing investors at the CII Big Picture Summit-2025 in Mumbai, Andhra Pradesh Minister Kandula Durgesh announced a new era in the history of film policy. He aims to make Andhra Pradesh the most film-friendly state for shooting in the country, supporting Telugu Cinema's standing as a global brand. He revealed plans to unveil a comprehensive new Film Tourism Policy.

The Kootami government pledged complete support to ventures building key infrastructure, including Integrated Film Cities, Modern Film Studios, Dubbing Theatres, and Re-recording facilities. The administration will offer necessary encouragement and assurance to investments made in the Indian Media & Entertainment sector. Furthermore, he emphasized prioritizing talent by confirming that the Nandi Awards and Nandi Drama Festival will be conducted soon.

Andhra Pradesh houses about 1103 screens, the highest after Tamil Nadu.The Minister described as world-class films like Baahubali, RRR, Kalki 2898 AD, Pushpa series, Salaar, OG in terms of their production quality, among other aspects. He revealed that permissions for shooting in government and public spaces are being streamlined to be fast, transparent, and hassle-free.

The government plans to accord the Industry Status to the tourism and hospitality sectors. Rs 25,000 Cr of private investment will be attracted by 2029.

The Minister called upon them to work together to lead the Indian Media and Entertainment sector towards the $100 Billion level. Direct capital subsidies will be provided to boost Tollywood.

The AP government has been competing with Hyderabad to turn the state into a major Telugu cinema hub.
