Vijay Deverakonda is preparing to own 2026 with a dual offering. Stepping away from his usual urban roles (typified by Arjun Reddy, Geetha Govindam, and Pelli Choopulu), the Rowdy Star is diving into two prestigious pan-India projects, Ranabaali and Rowdy Janardhana. "I believe these stories reflect important truths about our past and present, aiming to create a powerful experience that both entertains and enlightens," he has been quoted as saying.
What is Ranabaali about?
Helmed by director Rahul Sankrityan and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, this is a historical epic set against the backdrop of 19th-century India. Following the sensational response to the title glimpse, the Kingdom actor took to social media: "The British called him a 'SAVAGE'... He was 'OUR' Savage!" The film aims to set the record straight on a history that was buried. Addressing recent speculation regarding the high-quality visuals, director Rahul Sankrityan clarified that no AI was used. "In fact, every frame was created using traditional methods with months of hard work," he shared. Featuring a musical score by Ajay-Atul, this saga is scheduled to strike theaters on September 11. The film co-stars Rashmika Mandanna.
What to expect from Rowdy Janardhana?
Expect a raw rural action drama. Vijay will be seen in a blood-soaked, masculine role in this multi-lingual release. Directed by Ravi Kiran Kola and produced by Sri Venkateswara Creations, the film is set in Rayalaseema and follows an intense political storyline. For this "biography of a wounded man," producer Dil Raju revealed that Vijay will be speaking in an East Godavari accent for the first time. This is a December release.
So, in less than three months, Vijay will be seen in two major multi-lingual releases. Year 2026 is expected to be the most definitive one in his career. Incidentally, this is also the 10th year since the release of his breakout movie, Pelli Choopulu.
