Recently, there were rumours that Ajith Kumar quoted a remuneration of Rs 160 Cr when producer Anil Sunkara approached him for a movie. Since this was not to Sunkara's liking, he suspended the talks.
Ajith may be a superstar in Tamil, but the fee he quotes may still be too high. As an X user put it, he doesn't even promote his movies and doesn't look fit. And his market outside Tamil is non-existent.
Vijay, too, is guilty of not participating in promotions barring pre-release events. And he made Rs 80 Cr on Bigil, Rs 180 Cr on The GOAT, and Rs 250 Cr on Jana Nayagan. However, his market range is superior. He has been enjoying the peaks of his superstardom.
Considering that Ajith doesn't have some of the advantages that Vijay has, he should be pushing himself in promotions. The participation of big stars in interviews can boost revenues by Rs 20-30 Cr sometimes (provided the word of mouth is positive).
