Sandeep Reddy Vanga's influence is clear on Telusu Kada

Telusu Kada is directed by debutante Neerraja Kona. Released today in theatres, its treatment style and one of the characterizations have a not-so-subtle Sandeep Reddy Vanga influence on them.

This becomes evident in the scene where Siddhu Jonnalagadda's Varun admonishes his domestic helps because he can't see his loved one being affected by a lack of hygiene. This is a trait Sandeep's male protagonist in Animal showed. In an initial scene, he ruthlessly fires two staff members at his restaurant. This kind of behaviour is considered grey in conventional Telugu cinema. Sandeep made such toughness look glamorous.

Siddhu's Varun is a no-nonsense guy who doesn't mind calling a spade a spade even if it is not politically correct in a relationship to do so. He embraces controversial views in the process. Needless to say, Sandeep's male leads have shown similar tendencies.

The background music, too, draws some inspiration from the Sandeep school of filmmaking. The stylization effectively removes the scope for melodramatic presentation.

Neerraja Kona is an interesting voice for sure. In a recent interview, she said that her second film will be very unlike her first movie, and it will also be explosive. It's going to be a "bold" one with unexpected elements. Hope her second film will be bigger and better!
