Shashtipoorthi will make you both cry and laugh: Actor Rajendra Prasad

Actor Rajendra Prasad awaits the release of Shashtipoorthi this May 30. Directed by Pavan Prabha, the family drama co-stars Rupeysh, Archana, and Aakanksha Singh. In this interview, the Nata Kireeti sounds extremely confident when he says that the film happening to him is nothing short of a play of destiny. Catch him throw light on the movie, whose music is by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja.

Everyone is going to see Shashtipoorthi as a great film. I can say this with a clear conscience. The trailer made it clear that the story our movie is telling belongs to every household. The film will connect with everyone and reflect Telugu culture and people. This film is special because Shashtipoorthi is one event no child ever gets to participate in. I would never want to miss out on a beautiful film like this one.

I will be seen in a character with three different variations. I have ensured that the modulation is proper. If I could pull off the younger version, that's because of my attitude.

It was a nice experience teaming up with actor-producer Rupeysh, who is the cousin of veteran producer RB Choudhary.

On this occasion, I would like to thank the media for always supporting me in my journey spanning nearly 50 years. It has been a great journey. I am getting to essay age-appropriate roles. To this day, I don't look at the monitor to gauge my performance on set. I leave it to the judgement of my director. If he asks me to give another shot, I will go for it.

There was a time when comedies used to derive their strength from writing. The zing in the writing is missing these days. When I did Aha Naa Pellanta (directed by Jandhyala), I wondered if I would ever get to outclass it in my career. Such was the standard of writing back in the day.

In recent times, my performance has been liked by the audience in films like Robinhood. Allu Aravind personally appreciated me for my cameo in Sree Vishnu's Single. I am all for any movie to which I can add some value.

Telugu cinema's stature has reached the international level. Technology has aided the rise of our cinema. Art is an ocean that offers you endless opportunities. A question by NT Rama Rao garu changed my life: he asked me what was the unique thing that I would be bringing to the table. At that time, I participated in a film festival dedicated to Charlie Chaplin's movies. The experience helped me discover that I wanted to be a comedy hero. I did a film like Ladies Tailor consciously. After its success, I have never had to go back. Incidentally, its heroine (Archana) is my pair in Shashtipoorthi.

It is understandable that Pawan Kalyan has ordered an inquiry into the recent call for a shutdown of theatres (the decision has been called off). It seems the whole thing was not communicated the right way. Someone seems to have made a unilateral decision without holding due deliberations and consultations.

I acted in an English-language film called Quick Gun Murugan, whose second edition (to be powered by AI) is all set to commence its production journey soon. For three scenes, they asked me to act in a standalone film.

Money has mattered little to me. In my career, I made lots of money and also lost lots of it.
