50 year old Nagarjuna is still bubbling with youth and energy that he has been selected for the Silver Jubilee movie of Kamakshi Kala Movies banner.  Yes!  It’s now 25 years for D Siva Prasad Reddy since he debuted in Tollywood as producer.

This movie aptly named as ‘Kedi’ has a character who is associated with certain practices related to gambling.  But as Nagarjuna puts it, it appears that the hero’s character does not just confine to gambling but is just a hobby.

The female lead pairing with Nagarjuna is Mamta Mohandas and yet another attraction in female sector is an American blond Linda.  Linda also appeared in ‘Arya 2’ in an item number called  ‘Ringa Ringa…’,  an import from overseas to pitch against the local import Mumaith Khan who has been dominating the Tollywood sets.

Well! Coming to Nag, though I started this preview addressing him as 50 year old it’s needless to say that he is still scores over many young heroes in the vicinity.  His stills of this movie as seen in the net could only vouch for this claim. No doubt, the cinematographer Sarvesh Murari would have mustered all his resources in lifting already glittering image of the ‘King’ in the film?  This movie was filmed in different countries and most specifically it’s important to mention about Greece where the tourism department of Greece felicitated Nag for his contribution to the tourism of Greece.  This apart, Goa and Hyderabad dominate in many scenes.

The song ‘Mu mu mu muddante chedaa’ reminds Nag’s father ANR as it is a remix of the song seen in the film ‘Adhrushtavantulu’.  It can be a fitting tribute to a legend like ANR.  His fans must really be happy.  Sandeep Chowta, the music director has a special association with Nag dating back many years.  Their first successful combination rolled out under Krishna Vamsi’s direction as long as 15 years back in the form of ‘Ninne Pelladutha’ followed by ‘Chandralekha’ and ‘Super’.  Kedi’s audio release has already given the expected results thus making this combination yet another success.  Not only the music director, there are many others with Bollywood flavor.  They are ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ fame Ankur, ‘Bandit Queen’ fame Nirmal Pandey, ‘Lagaan’ fame Akhilendra Misra.

Kiran Kumar, though a debutant director for this movie is a known acquaintance for Nagarjuna who claims to have got impressed from his story narration while working for Nag’s TV serial ‘Yuva’.  Incidentally, Kiran Kumar was the dialogue writer for ‘Yuva’.  It appears now a days that there is heavy demand for debut directors due to probably a fact that they are considered as a source of fresh and creative ideas.  Thus in this film also it is said that Kiran Kumar has introduced new styles enhancing Nag’s image.

Brahmanandam’s presence in the films of top as well as established heroes has become a standard phenomenon.  Here with Nag’s company the humor department got further fine tuned.  Going by the habits of the hero it was widely claimed that the movie had resemblance to Hollywood’s ‘Casino Royale’ which has been heavily denied by the crew as well as Nag.

Breaking the tradition of releases of Nag’s movie which usually takes place during Christmas, this movie ‘Kedi’ for a change was aimed at Sankranthi release.  But for different reasons it got postponed and now finally it will be out on theaters on the day of “Maha Sivaratri”, (the 12th February), or do we call it Valentine’s Day is also aimed at.  Well! Whatever it is, Nag still commands a large loyal list of fans who will no doubt make any of his movie a success.  If it has style elements then the results are well known.
