Eega Movie Review

The Tollywood is already brimming with confidence that Rajamouli’s ‘Eega’ will be a blast.  Having watched the teaser trailer, the movie lovers are fully on board for this sci-fi film, which has been made with extensive CGI and VFX work. No doubt, the audience will eagerly wait for this experimental film which is evident from the response the director is receiving from filmy and non-filmy people across the country.

Introduction of the film: The most anticipated film of the year 2012, ‘Eega’, is a live action fantasy film written and directed by Tollywood’s ace director SS Rajamouli. Nani, Samantha and Sudeep are in lead roles. The movie is about a young guy who dies in the hands of a bad guy and then takes revenge on him (in the form of a housefly) in his rebirth.

Plot: Nani (Nani) meets Bindu (Samantha) and they fall in love with each other. Sudeep, the antagonist, loves Bindu too; hence he kills Nani after learning about their mutual love. Nani, in his rebirth is born as ‘Eega’ (a housefly) who happens to remember the incident occurred in its last birth and takes revenge on the antagonist (Sudeep). Unaware of the fact that the antagonist (Sudeep) killed Nani (Nani), Bindu (Samantha) agrees to marry him. The rest of the story is about ‘Eega’, a weak creature’s indomitable effort to irritate the antagonist (who’s a strong human-being) and the revenge. ‘Eega’ is such a small creature which is on a revenge mission.  One can imagine how a fly of such small size can take on a human-being which is million times larger than a fly.  This very thought itself can make audience eagerly wait to watch the movie till its climax.

Star cast: The star cast Nani, Samantha and Sudeep look extremely promising.  Samantha is very beautiful, good looking and at the same time very talented actress.  Given a right material, she proves to be wonderful.  Her debut film ‘Ye Maya Chesave’ reminds us of how much life she can breathe into a well-written character.  Similarly Nani (Ashta Chemma, Ala Modalaindi fame) and Sudeep (a Kannada actor who played several roles in infamuous RGV’s Hindi films Raan, Phook, Phook 2 and Raktha Charitra) also are not short of their talents in their earlier films. So one can expect the best ever performances from these artists.

Director: In the present movie world where the innovation is the buzz word to beat the intense competition, the directors not only have to work hard but have to think out of the box with extreme creativity.  Thus Rajamouli has put in all kinds of efforts in his dream project ‘Eega’ which is also his first 3D film.  His capability and qualities are already known to the Telugu audience through movies like ‘Yamadonga’ and ‘Magadheera’ which have showcased his keen interest in technical values.  ‘Eega’ is mix of all these capabilities and the input from some international experts, thus providing on a platter of 2 hrs long technically superior product.

Technicians: When it comes to other technical aspects of the film, Keeravani’s music and K K Senthil Kumar’s beautiful images are expected to mesmerize the audience apart from CGI and VFX work. As such, every Telugu movie buff is aware that right from ‘Student No. 1’ to the recent ‘Maryada Ramanna’, every movie in the combination of Rajamouli-Keeravani was a great musical hit. Not to speak of KK Senthil Kumar’s remarkable work in Rajamouli’s films like ‘Sye’, ‘Chatrapathi’, ‘Yamadonga’ and ‘Magadheera’. Especially he showcased his talent to perfection in films like ‘Yamadonga’ and ‘Magadheera’. So definitely ‘Eega’ will be a real visual feast to audience.

Apart from Keeravani and Senthil Kumar, other technicians who also need a special mention are Rama Rajamouli for styling, S Ravinder for his art work and Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao for editing. While songs in the film were written by MM Keeravani, Ramajogayya Sastry, Anantha Sreeram and Chaitanya Prasad; Deepu, Sahiti, Sravana Bhargavi, Chaitra, Vijay Prakash, Rahul Sipligunj, Anuj Gurwara and Shivani crooned the songs.  Janardhan Maharshi assisted Rajamouli in the Telugu script work and Crazy Mohan in the Tamil script.

Production: The film is simultaneously made in Telugu and Tamil with Sai Korrapati of Chalana Chitram banner as producer for Telugu version ‘Eega’ and Prasad V Potluri of PVR Cinemas as producer for the Tamil version ‘Naan Ee’.  ‘Eega’ is also being dubbed in Malayalam as ‘Eecha’ and will be released on the July 6th along with Telugu and Tamil versions. Mostly filmed in Hyderabad, ‘Eega’ which contains more of CGI and VFX works is very much within the limits of arourd Rs 26 crores which Rajamouli is sure to get it back to its producers.

With the best combinations everywhere and the kind of response from the general public, it’s firm that ‘Eega’ will open with a bang on July 6th and enthrall all movie lovers in the world.
