HAF Smiles by Hyderabad Arts Festival

300 orphan children from 10 different orphanages were made VVIPs and treated with royal hospitality in a star hotel thanks to Ohris Basera with food, fun, frolic activities and goodie bags

Hyderabad, June11,2016: They orphans. They don’t know who their parents. They don’t know a good three start hotel. Their shelter is their world. But, for a day 300 orphan children housed in about 10 orphanages became VVIPs and were treated royally in Hotel Basera, a star hotel with good food, fun, frolic activities plus each one of the were given goodie bag worth Rs 1000/- and above.

Children aged between 5 years to 12 years had fun filled day in their life with a lot of games, interactive engagement, food, entertainment and much more. The day probably they will remember for their life time.

This Hyderabad Arts Festival(HAF) Smiles was organized by Hyderabad Arts Festival as part of the three month long festival to celebrate the spirit of Hyderabad.

The Hotel Management was magnanimous enough to accommodate children and taken care of their hospitality without any compromise.

The event which is an annual affair was organized in association with Touch A Life Foundation is a non-profit organization which works with the mission to empower underprivileged children.

Ohris Baseraa has kindly consented to make the entire venue complimentary along with the food for these kids. Our heartfelt gratitude to Amar Ohri for this gesture said Manoj, Ramakrishna and Capt Anand, the trio behind Hyderabad Arts Festival.

Apart from giving these kids a great day, we gave them a power packed Goodie Bag as a remembrance of this day. The Bag itself will be a useful as a school bag that they can own and this bag was filled with various other useful products. The items include T-Shirts, Note Books, Pencils, Pencil Pouch, Home Made Chocolates, Towel, Smiley Ball, Crayons Set, Steel Scale, Water Bottle, Biscuit Packets, Toothbrush & Paste Set, Pens, Note pads. The value of items comes to about Rs. 1,125/- per goodie bag. And all the 300 kids will be given a bag each. Wow! what a way to celebrate happiness.

The orphanages which participated include:
1. Asha kuter ashram - 19 Girls, 17 Boys and 3 Staff.
2. Children aid society - 9 Girls, 9 Boys and 2 Staff.
3. Ayyappa society - 3 Girls, 30 Boys and 5 Staff.
4. Navajeevan Ashram - 30 Girls, 15 Boys and 4 Staff.
5. SHEEP NGO - 24 Girls, 18 Boys and 3 Staff.
6. Ammaodi orphanage - 15 Girls, 23 Boys and 3 Staff.
7. Adarsh balya vedika - 9 Girls, 11 Boys and 2 Staff.
8. Bala vikas nilayam - 18 Girls, 10 Boys and 3 Staff.
9. Emanual children' home - 27 Boys and 2 Staff.
10. Sakina foundation - 10 Girls, 5 Boys and 1 Staff.

Also, this year as part of HAF Smiles event, HAF in association with Thalassemia & Sickle Cell Society as conducted a blood donation camp for kids effected with Thalassemia condition.

Kids effected with this condition need blood transfusion every 15-20 days. There are 2200 kids registered with this condition with Thalassemia & Sickle Cell Society who enable blood transfusion to these kids free of cost on a regular basis.

Through "Smiles" we are creating happiness for the 300 kids claimed the organizers.
