On behalf of M. J.College of Engg &Technology, I extend a hearty welcome to all the new students of BE. Welcome to the MJ family. As the Head of this prestigious Institution, I think it would be appropriate to give you both Parents and students, a brief introduction of Muffakham Jah College of Engg.& Technology.

Brief Introduction:
M.J. College of Engg.& Technology was established in the year 1980 by Sultan-ul-uloom Education Society which is formed by a group of visionaries and intellectuals from various walks of life. Today that tiny acorn has developed into a mighty oak. Today it is a premier institute, offering 4 year degree courses in eight Engineering branches, 5 Post Graduate Courses of two years duration. The current intake of all the B.E. Courses is 780 in addition to the 102 students in the M.E. Programme. Presently 2 Research Centres have been established in ECE and Mechanical Engg.Depts and 5 Part time Phd Scholars are pursuing Doctral studies. I am very happy to inform you all that this year we are planning to start Research Centre in our Civil Engg.Dept.

College Ranking:
The college is affiliated to the Osmania University, Hyderabad and approved by AICTE, New Delhi. We are applying for Re-accreditation of NBA this year. It gives me an immense pleasure to inform you all that as per survey of Out-Look Magazine, MJCET was ranked 48th among top 100 Engg.Colleges of both Govt, and Private in India. The Week Magazine Ranked 50th among the Top 50 Pvt. Engg.colleges in India. MJCET is among the Top 5 Engg. Colleges in Hyderabad and Top the list among Minority Engg Colleges in the state.

Students Academic Performance:
One of the major factors behind this remarkable achievement by the college is the academic performance of our students. With an immense sense of pride, I inform you that the large number of students of this college have been consistently ranked among the top 10 positions of the Osmania University. This year 15 students are in the Top 10 ranks and secured 1st Ranks in IT&EIE Branches. I also take this opportunity to inform you all that the overall pass percentage of the outgoing batch is 93%. Among which 54% are Distinction holders and 40% are in First division. All M.E courses achieved 100% results.

Faculty Development:
All this would not have been possible but for the dedicated efforts by a group of 230 professionally experienced faculty members supported by a qualified team of 170 technical and non-technical staff. Among our staff we got 40 Phd holders and remaining staff are Mater Degree holders . Society is encouraging Faculty to pursue higher studies. 75 faculty members are pursuing Phd.

Infrastructure Facilities:
It would not be out of place to say that the Society has always played a proactive role in the development of this institution since its inception. It is worth mentioning here that during financial year 2013-14, the College has spent Rs 2crores for modernization of Labs, Class rooms, seminar halls with latest audiovisual aids, Project labs for students to carryout projects in-house, Establishment of EDP Centre, SEDEP Cell for Exams, Bulk SMS facility, Fire¬fighting system with sprinklers,30 MBPS leased line provides uninterrupted Internet connectivity in all Departments. Presently we are having 1000 latest Computer Systems in the College with Microsoft license of all products. We have most modern and totally automated Central Digital Library with 2377 E- Joumlas,54.116 Books with 15,242 titles and 260 NPTEL video expert Lectures This year we have spent SOlakhs budget on Library and next year budget provision is 33 lakhs. Our Library is working on extended hours and also on Holidays.44 CCTV Cameras are fixed in the campus for survivalence.

R&D Activities:
To promote R&D culture in the college, Society has sanctioned with substantial R&D seed funding. Faculty &Students are jointly initiating R&D Projects and so far 17 R&D projects completed and 8 are ongoing. Notable Projects among them are “Design of Wind Turbine, Magnetic Levitation Train, Web server for Wireless Networks, Drip Irrigation Automation, Solar Powered Charkha, Waste heat recovery system using thermoelectric generator, Solar water Pump ”.I am very delighted to inform all of you that our Physics and ECE depts. have successfully replicated the working model of Sir.J.C.Bose "MM Wave Experiment” to pay homage to the great Scientist and it is being displayed as IEEE exhibit at Birla Science Centre. SUES is sponsoring "Gold Medal” in the name of “Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose” for students of MJCET for Innovative R&D Project.

Placements:
Placements are playing an increasingly important role in projecting the college’s abilities. The Placement cell at our college has been doing an excellent job in providing Job opportunities to our outgoing students. We also conduct On-Line Mock-up Tests and Training Programs for 4th year students which aims at improving the soft skills and Employability. I am very happy to inform all of you that last year 250 students received Job offers from multinational companies like Infosys, Wipro, Computer Science Corp., Cognizant, Deloitte, Amazon, Infotech, HSBC Software development, Capital IQ, Franklin Templeton services, Capgemini etc. Many of our students are also going to US, U.K and Canada for pursuing higher studies.

Games &Sports:
Apart from excelling in academic activities, our Students are shining equally in Games & Sports. MJCET Basket Ball and Football teams have won state level Inter Engg. Tournaments and also won the Kite Engineering Tournaments . Our cricket team was runner up in T20 Cricket Tournament at Warangal and our student Zubaid Ahmed,4th year EEE scored 2 centuries in 34 & 42 Balls and also took 20 wickets .He was declared Player of the Tournament. Romana Khatoon 2nd year IT student represented National Basket Ball team. Anurag Haridas ,Ibrahim Ansari,Syed Khaja Omer and Syed Mehmood Ali represented the OU and State teams in different games.

Anti-Ragging:
I wish to reassure the Parents and new students that ragging is not an issue to worry about in our campus. Nevertheless the college has taken all the precautions to prevent Ragging as per the guidelines issued by Osmania University and also Government . Necessary information will be given to all the new students. For your kind information the whole campus is under CCTV survivalence. In case of any help, please contact our anti-ragging committee members.

Conclusion:
Before concluding, I request all the Parents to co-operate with us in encouraging the students to complete their respective Engineering Courses without back-logs, with full attendance and walk out of this campus with flying colors and also a job offer in hand.
