Participation of global service organizations like Rotary International will make lot of different in making Telangana a 100% literate state. Similarly no government schemes will be acceptable and will become popular unless people's participation” he said

“Literacy is very important for development. A walk organised to create awareness about literacy is very laudable. Every private school and college like our Sree Vidyaniketan must offer 25per cent of its seats free to poor children”, said Manchu Manoj.

Speaking on the occasion Thamma Reddy Bharadwaj said “Illiteracy is a basic evil that comes in the way of development of the nation. Illiteracy is the main cause for fight amongst us on the lines of castes and religion. Hence, literacy is very important”

In the beginning of this century, just 6 per cent of our population was literate. At the time of independence we had less than 20 per cent literacy. Now, 69years of India’s Independence, we haven’t achieved 100 per cent literacy. Just 74 per cent of the population is literate. Which means still 26 per cent of our population is illiterate. Indeed, it is a very sad state of affairs. That is why the walk was planned to create awareness about such a very important cause, he told the audience”

In its 3rd year now, Rotathon made small beginning in 2014 with just 800 participating in it and has grown in size and now in third year will 5000 participated.
