Rotary Club of Banjara Hills presents Ashvin Gidwani's 'History of India - VIRitten' stand up comedy for a cause in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad 27th July 2013: Rotary Club of Banjara hills Charitable Trust today announced the registrations open for Ashvin Gidwani's 'History of India VIRitten' stand-up comedy performance at a curtain raiser held in the city. 'History of India VIRitten' will be staged today (27th July ) in Hyderabad for the first time. The event will be aimed at charity and fund raising for the patients who avail free of cost medical care at Sparsh Hospice.

Sparsh Hospice is the first of its kind (hospice center) in Andhra Pradesh with a motto and vision of "adding life to living". It was founded by the members of the Rotary Club of Banjara Hills. Sparsh is a charitable palliative care center in treating terminally ill patients. The non — profit organization provides medical care such as bedding, medicines, basic treatment, and human care etc to terminally ill patients whose medical treatment for incurable illnesses have been stopped. Hospice was an idea of few prominent doctors, businessmen and philanthropists from the city which along with the help of the Rotary Club members from Banjara Hills gave shape to Sparsh Hospice in 2011. So far Sparsh has cared for 225 patients and has the capacity to serve 12 patients at any given time.

Rotarian Jagadish Ramadugu, President of 'Rotary Club of Banjara Hills' & Secretary of `Sparsh Governing Body' said, "Sparsh has made a very meaningful impact on the end of life care for more than 200 terminally ill patients and their families providing dignity, peace and pain free end to unfortunate victims of cancer. It is the tremendous dedication and compassion from our team of doctors, nurses, support staff, administrators and the many volunteers who are part of this quality care that is commendable. Members of Society and businesses have made generous contributions helping us keep all our services free to patients. We are looking forward to raise a corpus fund to build a larger permanent facility which can house nearly 100 patients in phases. Prospective donors and volunteers are requested to visit and see the quality of services rendered to the patients. Every year we conduct an annual fund raiser dinner with an entertainment show 8., celebrity auction to spread awareness and raise funds for Sparsh Hospice. The highlight of this year's program is a show titled "History of India — VIRitten, starring Vir Das & Kavi Shastri. I thank all the donors who have supported Sparsh Hospice by Participating in this gala evening."

VVS Laxman, former India Cricket Team player has been associated with Sparsh 84 its activites over the last two years. Laxman said " I am proud to be advocating the cause of Sparsh Hospice and palliative care. This is a much needed service and Rotary Club of Banjara Hills members have not only setup this center but are also providing free quality services to all terminally ill cancer patients". VVS Laxman is also joining the Rotary Club of Banjara Hills as a Honorary member. "I am glad to be joining Rotary Club of Banjara Hills and be a part of this team of committed and service minded Hyderabad's".

'History of India — VIRitten' a famous standup comedy act starring celebrity comedian / actor Vir Das and Kavi Shastri produced by Ashvin Gidwani, has seen phenomenal success in India and now for the first time will enthrall the audience of twin cities. The event will be a part of the Annual Fund Raiser for The Rotary Club of Banjara Hills Charitable Trust. The concert will be held at N-Convention, Madhapur on 27th July 2013. Donors have contributed Rs 5000 per person to be a part of this event and support the cause.
