The Rockwell International School's Unique Charity Art Exhibition

The Rockwell International School is presenting a unique charity art exhibition The Rainbow by 300 students. The art exhibition would be inaugurated on the 22 March, 2013 at 11.00 am at the State Art Gallery, Jubilee Hills.

The Rainbow, filled with colours, is a unique exhibition of creative expressions of 300 students from lower kinder garden to Secondary classes of Rockwell International School, Hyderabad, India. It's unique because of many reasons; this is the first exhibition of this kind which brings together a huge number of artists that too school going children from different nationalities together in a single space. Another important reason for it to be unique is the way it breaks the very concept of gallery as space meant for grownups. Grownups both in terms of age and artistic practice.

The idea behind this exhibition is not to showcase good arts and artists. But to tell that there is no such binaries called good and bad arts and artists. Everyone here recognize himself/herself as an artist and their work as an artistic expression. At the same time they demand such recognition from others as well. They are coming to the gallery space to invite our attention to humble things which we generally tend to ignore.

What one can see in their work is their world of imaginations and its richness. They don't pay attention to; rather don't care about, skill and craft. For them an idea is enough to tell the story, a shapeless story But the very act of telling it makes it shaped. But it's an unconscious act of shaping. What all they want is to just tell the story, no matter what medium they use for that. Here it just happened to be colours.

The funds raised through the art exhibition will be donated to Abhaya Foundation (abhayafoundation.org), a trust working in the areas of H.E.A.R.T. (Health, Education, Awareness, Rural development and Transformation)
