TiE Hyderabad and FICCI Launch Smart Cities initiative with a four part conference & workshop series - Smart Solutions for Smart Societies (4S)

• 1st Part focused on Smart Health, Smart Mobility and Smart Energy domains
• Discussions ranged from opportunities in Transmission, Storage, Renewable Energy, Traffic Management and Connectivity to medical devices & Hospitals

Hyderabad, 15th June, 2015: The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) - Hyderabad Chapter, today launched their Initiative on Smart Cities named 'Smart Solutions for Smart Societies (4S)'. The key focus areas of 4S conference series is a combination of each aspect of Smart Cities covering Smart Health, Smart Energy, Smart Mobility, Smart Education, Smart Homes, Smart Environment, Smart Buildings, Smart IT & Communications and Smart Governance. Spread over a period of a year, the 4-part conference and workshop series aims to bring together decision makers and influencers from various sectors of the society, including the government, and facilitate a collaboration with entrepreneurs, SMEs and industrialists in order to deliberate upon the opportunities a smart city stands to bring about for all stakeholders. The yearlong event is being organized in partnership with the Government of Telangana and FICCI with ISB being the knowledge partner.

The 1st part of the series witnessed participation from knowledge experts of the Smart Health, Smart Mobility and Smart Energy space. The event was presided over by Sri K T Rama Rao, Minister for PR & IT, Govt of Telangana. His inaugural address deliberated on how it is of utmost importance for startups and entrepreneurs to derive the need, evaluate opportunities and work towards achieving the goal of creating smart cities in India. The key address was delivered by Safir Adeni, President, TiE Hyderabad and Managing Director, Ineda Venture Group where he elaborated the need for this initiative, the roadmap ahead and the comprehensive set of focus areas this initiative will take up.

The event further witnessed panel discussions within the three domains: the Smart Health session moderated by Mr. Kaustav Banerji, Country Manager, South Asia, St. Jude Medical had panelists discussing how to create and grow their businesses pertaining to medical devices, IT services and Hospitals. The Smart Mobility session moderated by Mr. Sanjay Kapoor, GM & Head Corporate Communications, PR & Advertising, L&T Metro Rail had the decision makers sharing their views on favorable windows for entrepreneurs to innovate within the Traffic Management, Connectivity andransport; the Smart Energy session moderated by Mr. Satyam B, CEO, Neosilica discussed opportunities in Transmission, Storage and Renewable Energy.
Commenting on the success of Part I of the event, Mr. Safir Adeni, said, "With all the stakeholders actively participating to contribute their bit, we are pleased to see the response this event has received. The kinds of discussions deliberated upon today are a testimony of how our thought process as a nation is advancing and how we are aspiring to reach higher goals” He further added, “We are positive that these sessions will further enhance our capabilities in terms of bringing forth outstanding ideas and help achieve collective progress in creating smart cities in the country"

The 1st part of the conference series witnessed participation from all the stakeholders including Government, bureaucrats, industrialists, entrepreneurs, SMEs, smart solutions providers and domain experts. Some of the key speakers that shared their valuable insights at the event were Dr Sai Praveen Haranath, Senior Consultant Pulmonologist & Critical Care Specialist, Apollo Hospitals, Dr Ramana Rao, Director, GVK EMRI, Mr. Avinash Mohanty, IPS, DCP (Traffic Cyberabad), Mr. Alipt Sharma, Principal, GEF Advisors India, Dr. T S Reddy Founder Member, Institute of Urban Transport (India), Mr. Shridhar, MD, Blaze Automation and Dr. M.V. Ramana Rao, CMD, MIC Electronics Ltd.
