Tie a Rakhi to a Tree - Pollution Free Campaign by Big FM

92.7 BIG FM, Hyderabad's leading FM station in its continous endeavors to create awareness on eco-friendly environment, today initiated a one-of-its-kind `Tie-a-Rakhi-to-a-Tree, Make Hyderabad pollution free' campaign ahead of Rakshabandhan festival. The campaign was launched by renowned actress Saloni who is popularly known as 'Telugu Ammaiye' along with volunteers and environmental enthusiasts who marked the launch by performing puja, offering sweets and tying rakhi to saplings. The objective of the initiative is to communicate and build awareness on protecting our tree-brothers who are saplings now but eventually when they grow they will protect our future and make Hyderabad a greener and cleaner place to live.

On Rakshabandhan, the 'Tie-a-Rakhi-to-a-Tree, Make Hyderabad pollution free' campaign will see BIG FM RJ's going to every nook and corner of Hyderabad distributing Rakhi's and saplings to create awareness and sense of responsibility amongst the masses. A wholesome programming is planned around the festival with celebrities and environmental volunteers endorsing the drive on-air, sharing their concerns and expressing their love for a greener environment.

As we tie Rakhi to our brothers expecting love, care, affection, safety and security throughout our life, the same way we should also think that the trees are also our brothers and will help protect our future" commented actress Saloni on the awareness drive.

'As a responsible medium, we have been consistently driving the eco-friendly initiatives. For the past four years, we have been promoting the 'BIG Green Ganesha' made of waste paper. This time around we planned to start the eco-friendly campaign with Rakhi which is just ahead of Ganesha. On Rakhi, we are doing a role reversal, brothers take a pledge to protect their sisters. Here we are tying rakhis to our tree-brothers with a pledge to safeguard them. We should embrace our trees, for a better and greener future of Hyderabad. " Said RJ Shekar.
