FICCI Media & Entertainment Business Conclave 2010

If an industry is doing good, it will always do better if a proper platform is provided. This is what FICCI is doing now to the South Indian Film Industry which is nothing but a goldmine with the abundance of talent prevailing in that region. Dr K Rosaiah, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh will declare open on 1st of December, 2010 a conclave on behalf of FICCI at Hyderabad. This conclave will facilitate awareness among the filmmakers about different rules and regulations prevailing in different countries and the opportunities. This will take the South Indian film talent to the global arena. Not just the international awareness but there is tremendous lack of knowledge on Indian rules also as different states have different policies. So this conclave is expected to bring different personalities from different states as well as countries under one roof to trash out the pros and cons of the movie making and its hurdles. Gone are the days when just shooting the film was called as movie making. Today, it has different tentacles having equal say on the revenue. They are Distribution, Media, TV, Radio, Gaming, Visual Effects, Digital Entertainment, Animation and many more.

The importance of the event can be understood from the high profile participants like Mrs Ambica Soni, Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Mrs Geeta Reddy, Minister for Information & PR, Cinematography, FDC & Tourism in K Rosaiah’s government, Dr Kamal Haasan, FICCI Media & Entertainment Business Conclave, Mr Yash Chopra, Chairman, FICCI Entertainment Committee, Mr Karan Johar, Co-Chairman, FICCI Entertainment Committee, Ms Sangeetha Reddy, Chairperson, FICCI Andhra Pradesh State Council, Mr Allu Aravind, Geetha Arts, Mr Suresh Babu, Managing Director of Suresh Productions and Ramanaidu Studios, Mr Subhash Chandra, Chairman, Zee Group, Mr Uday Shankar, CEO of Star India Pvt Ltd.

A Press conference was organized in this connection today and Dr Kamal Haasan, the Chairman of FICCI Media and Entertainment Business Conclave spoke to the media persons. He said, “The conclave would encourage international participation with a seven fold agenda. They are:

• To work closely and strengthen links with the sizeable and vibrant Indian Entertainment Industry and help develop its rich potential
• To take up regulatory issues with the state and central governments
• To provide a forum for the Government to receive authentic and first hand information on the state of the Indian Entertainment Industry and its problems and prospects
• To be one of the most prestigious conventions on the Business of Entertainment in Asia and indeed the entire world; the entire gamut of the entertainment industry would be covered at the Conclave, over a period of two days and will be addressed by thought leaders in each field.
• To offer an opportunity for the Indian entertainment industry to explore its global linkages
• To expose delegates to the global and Indian developments with regard to trends and opportunities in the entertainment industry, business possibilities and regulatory regimes in different countries
• To bring the varied Indian states and their entertainment industries together under a single platform.

The programme will be for two days to address the entire film industry with particular emphasis on South Indian Entertainment.

Ms Sangeetha Reddy, Chairperson of FICCI AP State Council said, “FICCI is doing a wonderful job in providing a good platform for the legends and talents with very specific reference to the large South Indian Film & Entertainment Industry.

Mr C Partha Sarathi, Commissioner of Information & Public Relation Department, E.O. Secretary, Govt of AP., & MD, AP State Film TV & Theater Development Corporation Ltd., thanked the Government of Andhra Pradesh for its interest and participation in the development of Media and Entertainment. He made a specific reference to the training facilities available in the state.

Producer Allu Aravind, Geetha Arts, also spoke to the media and praised FICCI and organizers for conducting the programme in Hyderabad thus giving a good opportunity to the South Indian Industry. He also mentioned that the AP media is worth Rs 2,000 crores and provides employment to sizable number of people. He extended his request to the media and entertainment people from different parts of the country to participate wholeheartedly.
