IIID Showcase Insider 2018 at HITEX

 Hyderabad, June 22, 2018..... Sanjay Mohe one of the most respected Architects in India and Pratap Jadhav, National President of IIID inaugurated the 3rd Edition of IIID Showcase Inside 2018 here in the city today at Hitex.  

Called “IIID Showcase Insider 2018” it is organized by The Hyderabad Regional Chapter(HRC) of the apex body for the interior professionals in the field of Interior Design in India IIID—Institute of Indian Interior Designers. It is showcasing all verticals of the building industry. 

This B2B exhibition is unique and is the only its kind of an expo organized by the professionals, for the professionals, and of the professionals. 

Addressing the media immediately after inaugurating the show, Pratap JADHAV, National President of IIID said IIID has 31 chapters and 8000 across India. There are three lakh interior design professionals in I dia. Our focus is to enhance the quality of Interior Design Profession in India. We would like to focus on serious education of the Interior Designing in India, he said

 Speaking further Pratap JADHAV added that they are collaborating with 35 colleges and 12 universities, including Hyderabad based Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, is one of them, JADHAV added. Our role here is to enhance the quality of interior designing education, faculty training, he informed. Every year 10,000 students are entering into the profession, he stated.  

We are holding a Summit in September this year Jaipur, where we will announce a Charter defining in what is quality interior design education. Hyderabad based designer Yashwanth Ramanamurthy already prepared a draft charter. After the summit, we will reveal details of the chapter which will be submitted to the competent government authorities, JADHAV added. 

Speaking further Pratap JADHAV stated that they were seriously contemplating to restrict practice to well qualified and well deserving by bringing in Licensing into the profession. It may take a decade or more to. Become law and come into force. And we want the government to introduce licensing system as we professionals deal with spaces which have health and safety issues. Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, and Indonesia.  

Interior designing profession has to be taken little more seriously.  If the profession has to be developed, it needs to be regulated the way Architects are given licenses to practice she said. We will work towards it to make Licensing a must in future, he added.  

Interior Designing is not just confined to the interior of home or office. Wedding Set Design is emerging big.  Design of movie sets, GES Summit like events etc offer good scope for interior designers.  It has grown beyond real estate he said. 

The design just doesn’t belong to affluent few. Even commoner can seek design intervention. Taking design to common people is our goal JADHAV informed.  

The Interior Design Industry size in India is estimated to be Rs 20,000crore and Telugu states supposed to have one-tenth as its share which is put at Rs 2000crore. 

The expo is expected to generate Rs 500crore worth business post the event based on the response exhibitors received from the last year event. The show has 110 exhibitors. 2000 business visitors visited on the day one. We will have 4500 business visitors and 6000 general visitors visiting the expo, informed Manoj.  

Sanjay Mohe, a well-known architect who graced the inauguration said access to material, technology, sophistication also added its own challenges to the profession.  

Godrej & Boyce is showcasing its furniture brand “Script” to the local market through the expo.  The script featured “premium expressive” furniture which focuses on functional design including customizable cabinets and reading corners among others.  

Another exhibitor Varmora launched largest format of 1200 by 2400 mm Accent Satvario tiles, which are the largest ever times in the country.  

Local company Darpan launched a special fabric. Unique digital locks, Hastens Recliner beds costing INR 16 lakh also unveiled during the three-day expo. NKV Gypsum Plaster showcased material which is the replacement of sand, cement and lappam coating. Semi-precious stone tiles are also being showcased. Wall feature worth Rs 25 lakh is among other on display.  

Students of various interior designing and architecture colleges showcased innovative Bird Bathe, Art Installations and a unique Chair for the President of North Korea.  

Sandeep Saudari showcased unique chairs, furniture designs.   

The Meraqee Brand is launched at the show for the several architectural and interior products. 

 It is our 3crore rupee project. The proceeds of the show will go towards setting up of IIID-HRC Resource Centre, on the lines of one already at Goa. This center will be used to quality standards of the profession and help young designers to better their knowledge. For which we need a piece of land. For which we are appealing to the State Government to allocate IIID-HRC a 600 yards place. We will need Rs 1.5crore besides Lang cost to construct 4000sq ft resource center informed Manoj Wahi, who curated the show for the 3rd year.  

The expo showcased six proto-types developed as result of a Workshop “Reimaging Urban Spaces” organized by IIID HRC. These prototypes show how the quality of six public spaces in the city can be improved 

These prototypes are developed as a result of those workshops as a solution to the problems they were assigned.   Some of these prototype designs include 01. KBR Park Entry and Seating; 2. Muslim Jung Bridge(Seating), 3. Vendor stalls of informal weekly markets; 4. Begumpet Transport Node(seating); 5. ViewPoint at Prashanthnagar(Shaded seating) and 6. Hari Hari Kala Bhavan(Seating). 

The proto-types exhibited are the outcomes of the Workshops “Reimaging Urban Spaces”  held from June 14 to 16 at Saptaparni, Banjara Hills.  

The objective of the workshop was to focus on the potential of design intervention to transform dysfunctional public spaces in Hyderabad into vibrant and livable spaces. 

Indian Institute of Architects (IIA)-Telangana Chapter, the Crafts Council of AP and Telangana, ISHRAE-Deccan Chapter, Indian Plumbing Association, INTACH and FSAI and others also part of the show and have their stalls.  

Aparna Bidarkar, Chairperson IIID-HRC; Sona Chatwani, Immediate Past Chairperson IIID-HRC; Amita Raj, Hon. Secretary; Manoj Wahi, Design Showcase Convenor,;  Suleman Hirani, Design Showcase Convener (Trade)and Rakesh Vasu, Design Showcase Co-Convenor, IIID Showcase Insider X 2018 graced the inaugural.  

The show has 110 exhibitors showcasing 500 plus products in 30 and above categories and is spread over 7200 sq meters area. The three-day exhibition will conclude on 24th June.
