Physical Literacy Days (December 3rd 2017)

Hyderabad, December 3, 2017h: PL Days is back after nearly two months break due to the rains and road repairs. Dr. REDDY’S FOUNDATION joined hands with Physical Literacy Initiative to promote inclusive sports and games. 

Unlike in the past, the initiative PL Days will have flexible venues and will be organised at different venues/locations in the city, thus taking it to the communities rather than bringing people to one location or venue. PL days organizers have prepared to organize this event at various locations in city on every week basis instead of doing it at one location as there was a huge demand from people to bring this event to their communities.

The first e vent kicked off on Sunday December 2 at Gachibowli Stadium. Nearly 500 visitors defied winter cold and participated in it at early morning. The craze for the event unfazed in spite of two months break. This proves how people are desperately looking for such a community events. 

A special event to promote inclusive sports was held in association with Dr. Reddys Foundation on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities- December 3, 2017. Dr. Reddys launched a special campaign to promote barrier free work places to create an inclusive environment.

In our busy schedules, we tend to ignore our own health & wellbeing and no wonder that there is a less focus on people with special needs. It is time that we all have to work together in creating friendly environment and special events and programs to encourage people with disability to participate. We are happy to join hands with Dr. Reddy’s Foundation in their yearlong campaign to promote ‘ Barrier Free Work Places’ said organizers of Physical Literacy Days.

Dr Reddy’s Foundation, in collaboration with Physical Literacy Days marks the International Day for Persons with Disabilities by introducing adaptive games and sports to spread the message of Inclusion. This endeavour is part of Dr Reddy’s Foundation's nation-wide campaign - #BreakingBarriersAtWorkplace, which aims to promote the employment of Persons with Disabilities in workforce. 

This event has witnessed Blind Cricket, Badminton, Throw ball in an inclusive Avatar along with exciting fitness sessions like Chair Yoga by Dr.Mani Pavitra, Zumba Senato which was tailored for Persons with Disabilities by using chairs. People from all walks of life have participated in these activities and pledge their support to the campaign call of #IStandForInclusion. 

Bollybeats TM Fitness by karthikeyan krishnan & Chair Zumba (Zumba Senato) by shefali pantagani was the highlight of the event along side, Department of mass communication, Loyola Academy presented a scintillating dance event at PLD- hyderabad. The college is hosting Infocus- A national film festival on 7th and 8th December and the event would be attended by the stalwarts of the movie industry. All movie enthusiasts are invited for the fest at Loyola Academy.

Physical Literacy Days is mean to improve Sports Knowledge and Physical Literacy in India. It is an initiative of Pullela Gopichand. This initiative aimed to kick start ‘ Physical Literacy movement’ in the city. ‘Physical Literacy Days’ is a community engagement program that aims to bring change in the well being of people of Hyderabad from all sections/all ages, especially children by making them to adopt an active life style. Variety of fitness programs and fun activities will be introduced free access will be given for people to participate

PL Days would happen next week at Gachibowli Stadium as usual from 6 am to 9 am with various other themes.
