CAP Foundation Workshop on Child Protection

Hyderabad, June 28th, 2017: The One Day workshop on Child Protection, organised by CAP Foundation and supported by Plan India International, Hyderabad; was formally inaugurated by Chief Guest Sri K. P. Vivekananda, MLA, Qutbullapur; on Wednesday at Katriya Hotels. Also present on the occasion were Guests of Honour Dr. Siva Prasad, Add. Medical & Health Officer, GHMC; Smt. Swaroopa Rani, District Welfare officer, Women & Child Welfare, Medchal District; Ms Vijaya Devi, CWC Member, Medchal; Dr Nalini Gangadharan, Chairperson, CAP Foundation; Ch Madhuri, COO, CAP Foundation and Mr Rajan Vadivelu, Coordinator, Plan India.

CAP Foundation in partnership with Plan India International has been working in 32 slums of Quthbullapur municipal area since 2005. It has extensively worked on Child centred community development activities such as strengthening of the Self-help groups, Infrastructure support to Government schools, sensitizing on the topics of Child Protection and mechanisms, Health & Nutrition programmes and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene activities, during this period.

CAP Foundation is conducting this one day project culmination workshop to appraise the stakeholders, various Government bodies, and communities about the initiatives taken during the year on Child Protection, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, Health & Nutrition and the progress of the Young Leaders.

As part of this campaign CAP Foundation and Plan India International promoted 50 young children of 14 to 18 age group, studying in government schools, colleges and private schools. They were the faces of the 32 slums representing the issues of their living locations. These young leaders were trained on various topics like understanding slums, addressing the Child protection issues and reporting mechanisms, Importance of health and nutrition’s effects on child and mother, understand the need for Safe, potable drinking water, Sanitation and hygiene, to make them understand about their role as a young leader for the development of the slums in future days. These young leaders are here to articulate the issues at this District level event with support system through organisations such as CAP & amp; Plan.
