Theatrical trailer launch event of Venkatesh and Ritika Singh starrer ‘Guru’ was held in a grand level on Monday i.e. on March 20 in Hyderabad. Directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad, the film is being produced by S Shashikanth under the banner Y Not Studios.
On this occasion, hero Venkatesh said, “To be frank, I have seen a new actor in me after completing the film. In my 30 years long film career, I have acted in so many genres. I have received many awards and rewards and I have learned a lot. What I have learned in these 30 years long film career is one side and the knowledge which I gained from ‘Guru’ is another side. The reason behind this is the director Sudha Kongara. Actually, I should have done this film much before, but due to fever I was not able to do this earlier. I have watched the Tamil versions before the release itself and I was very much impressed. Sudha approached me and asked me to study complete script. So far in my career I just went through what my character is and what my dialogues are. Studying the entire script is new to me. Anyhow, read the entire script and gained new energy. I have acted with great involvement. Sudha has taken due care to present me in a fresh and new look. The film show me as a boxing coach. Sudha has extracted best output from me. I have lent my voice for a song ‘Jingidi…’. Santhosh Narayan has given wonderful music. Rithika and Mumtaj have given wonderful performance. I am extremely confident that ‘Guru’ will impress everyone.”
Speaking at the event, producer S Shashikanth said, “Earlier I have produced ‘Love Failure’ and ‘Tamizh Padam’ in Tamil. ‘Love Failure’ was dubbed in Telugu with the same title, while ‘Tamizh Padam’ was remade as ‘Sidigadu’. ‘Guru’ has become super hit in Hindi and Tamil. Venkatesh has worked for ‘Guru’ with great excitement. The film will stand out as a milestone in his career. ‘Guru’ will show Venkatesh as a boxing coach. Rithika is a good performer. Sudha garu has researched a lot for this film and moulded it wonderfully. Everyone will like the film for sure.”
Addressing the gathering, director Sudha Kongara said, “I would like to share about the journey of ‘Guru’ with you. When I got the idea to prepare ‘Guru’ script, I researched for four years. I have met 250 boxers and instructors to ready the script. The film which was release in Hindi and Tamil last year was a big hit. I got this idea when I was working as an assistant director at Mani Rathanam garu. After developing the script, I first approached Venkatesh garu, but it didn’t work out due to some reasons. After watching the Tamil version, Venkatesh garu asked me to make it in Telugu. I have worked with so many heroes when I was working as an assistant director. I have not seen the commitment, humanity and sincerity is no other hero like Venkatesh. Though he was injured during the shoot, he didn’t stop the shooting. Working with Venkatesh garu is a wonderful experience. Rithika Singh is travelling along with me from the past four years. She has given wonderful performance in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil versions. Mumtaj is a boxer. Producer Shashikanth garu has given lot of support and freedom. Ram has taken due care in each and every aspect. I am thankful to everyone who supported me.”
Heroine Rithika Singh shared, “I am extremely confident that the film ‘Guru’ will show good impact in Telugu as well like in Hindi. My father is the real guru to me in my real life. I felt very comfortable with Venkatesh garu. I am very happy that I received national award for this film. I played an inspiring character. Sudha garu has crafted the film wonderfully.”
Mumtaj and Bhaskarabhatla were also present at the function.
