Nagarjuna’s ongoing flick, a Dil Raju production under Radha Mohan’s direction is being made on Sri Venkateswara Creations and Matinee Entertainments banners. We are aware that a title contest was held online by producer Dil Raju. And now it has been confirmed as ‘Gaganam’. To make an announcement a press meet was organized at State Art Gallery, Hyderabad. It has been attended by Nagarjuna, Dil Raju, Radha Mohan, Prakash Raj, Sireesh, Lakshman, KV Guhan, Poonam Kaur, etc.

Firstly Dil Raju while speaking, “While we are producing this film in Telugu, Prakash Raj is producing the Tamil version under his home banner ‘Duet Movies’. We decided on the titles, ‘Payanam’, ‘Gaganam’ and ‘Wanted’ and then held an online contest to choose one among the three. Prakash Raj and Radha Mohan first narrated the story to me. Later on an occasion when I told him the concept of this film he instantly agreed to do this film because by then he was immensely impressed with Radha Mohan’s ‘Aakasamantha’ film. We first fixed a small budget for this film but after Nagarjuna signed this film it turned out to be a big film. Nagarjuna did many experimental films like ‘Geetanjali’, ‘Annamayya’, etc., in the journey of his film career. And now he stepped forward to do yet another experimental film. This film is sure to be a trend setter. Radha Mohan has his own style of filmmaking. And I need not mention anything about Prakash Raj as you are well aware of his talent. Guhan’s camera work is splendid in this film. We are planning to release in October on Vijayadasami day.”

Radha Mohan said, “So far I’ve directed four films but for the first time I’ve worked with a super star. Both my producers are making this film with superior quality. This movie has all required elements along with good entertainment. I hope this film will be a bigger hit than my earlier film ‘Aakasamantha’.”

Cameraman Guhan said, “We shot this film with RED camera. This movie is a challenge for me and I gained a different experience.”

Prakash Raj said, “My friendship with Radha Mohan started about 20 years back. This is my fourth production with him. This movie has a unique storyline. The title for the Tamil version is ‘Prayanam’. I like the working style of Dil Raju and his team. Any film will become successful if we make it with commitment. When I received National Award in Delhi some of them asked why no movies of that range are made in Telugu. But ‘Vedam’ and ‘Maryada Ramanna’ are the right examples to say that even Telugu audiences are preferring variety films. Nagarjuna is one actor who does variety films, Dil Raju is a successful producer, Radha Mohan is the director who comes up with good concepts and I’m an actor who is acting in five languages, so I assure that this film be in a unique style in our combination. We are making this film at par with international standards.”

Addressing the media Nagarjuna said, “Dil Raju brought this concept to me at the time of ‘Josh’ making. Initially I was not impressed with it but later after learning that Radha Mohan is directing this film, I developed interest in this project since I liked his earlier film ‘Aakasamantha’. When I listen to the concept I thought it is a serious film but later the way Radha Mohan narrated the story made me burst out into laughter. My previous film ‘K.D’ spoiled my mind as well as the audience’s mind completely. But this story has given me some relief which is why I agreed to do. I was a little hesitant to do the Tamil version due to language problem but later felt comfortable. I had to compete with Prakash Raj while performing my role in order to make it more interesting. For the first time I am acting in front of a digital camera therefore it took a couple of days to get used to it. The cameraman did new experiments with one such small camera.”

Speaking further he said, “A Tirupathi airport set and an airbus set was designed at Ramoji Film City. While returning home after the entire day’s shoot I used to get a feel like I’m returning from Tirupathi airport. Every movie that I worked with passion has become a hit. So this movie is surely a special one for me. This movie is sure to become a trend setter in Telugu film industry. Likewise the heroes too would get new characters to play. Regarding the title, when we held a title contest online 14 thousand voted for ‘Gaganam’, while 13 thousand voted for ‘Wanted’. Even in twitter we held this contest since I had a following of 57,000 and my younger son posted ‘Gaganam’ as his choice. Seeing his post everyone followed the same. Of late the film chamber of commerce is planning to give tax exemption for Telugu titles. And all my three films have titles in pure Telugu languge.”
