Tollywood Rewind - 12 Hits of 2012

Tollywood had the credit of churning highest box-office collections after Bollywood and Kollywood. Year by Year, the budget of Telugu films are increasing to manifold crores and now Tollywood become synonymous for High-budget flicks. On the other side, Tollywood also became famous for producing higher number of FILM SOFTWARE in number too. Thus in 2012, more than 125 films have been produced in Telugu alone, where as 2011 has produced around 105 only. On the same lines, this year had also witnessed the super hits of some movies with all the popular applause and will be memorable as the most successful year ever with higher number of hits at Box-office. It is noteworthy that, in the 81 years of Tollywood history, this year had a credit of producing 12 super hits, a movie a month on an average.

The list of TOP 12 HITS with the highlights of those movies are :

 

GABBAR SINGH :  This Pawan Kalyan- Shruti Haasan starrer created a buzz in the film industry with its Action Comedy and catchy songs. It’s a remake of super hit, DABANGG, and well-adapted with certain MAARPULU by its director, Harish Shankar, to suit the nativity and to the image of the Hero. The Antakshari episode and Kevvu Keka song were the highlights of the movie.

EEGA : It’s an S.S. Rajamouli’s brand rebirth-revenge love story, blended with high-end graphic technology. Samantha’s glamour, Sudeep’s histrionics as the antagonist made the movie a super success.

RACHCHA : This Ramcharan- Tamanna combination with the relatively new director, Sampath Nandi tasted unexpected success. It’s a routine formula mass-action entertainer. The remix song of “Vaana Vaana Velluvaaye” of Gang Leader, got into the minds of the audience and became a highlight of the movie.

BUSINESSMAN : The theme of corporatisation of Mafia activities in Mumbai has clicked well with the audience, supported with the powerful puchlines from Mahesh Babu. Kajal’s glamour and Poori Jagannath’s taking made the movie a blockbuster hit. The movie is made in short span of time of 6 months and proved that even the big-ticket, big budget and big-hero can also be made in time, if the Hero-Director-Producer really take it as a task.

JULAAYI : It’s the first time combination of Trivikram Srinivas with AlluArjun. This action love drama for the chase of money thrilled the viewers, besides the beauty of Ileana and music of Devi Sriprasad.

POOLA RANGADU : Comedian-turned-Hero Sunil shown his prowess as the solo Hero with his stunning dance moves and six-pack body. He proved his hold in performance too and got the appreciation and acceptance of Telugu audience on par with any Hero of Tollywood.

DENIKAINA READY : The movie can be termed as the controversy-driven-hit of the year. The portrayal of Brahmins in the movie is objected by the community and the subsequent comments of Mohan Babu and Hero Vishnu fuelled the controversy further and made it as the talk of the state.

SUDIGAADU : This is a comedy entertainer, with full of SPOOF on the routine formulaic story styles of Tollywood. This experiment got the great applause from the audience. Though it’s a remake of Tamil Hit film, TAMIL PATAM, Allari Naresh’s fun action with serious imitation of the punch lines of the Big Heroes, got the added element. Bheemaneni Srinivas Rao, the director got the success after a long gap with the movie.

ISHQ : The Nithin- Nitya combination made as the fresh young couple on the screen and appreciated by the audience. This Vikram Kumar’s directorial venture with nice narration blended with love-action-entertainment gave new breath of life to Hero Nithin after a series of flops. He took his voice for singing for the first time on screen with LACHCHAMMA song and well received with the youth.

EE ROJULLO : This youthful story on the present urban youth become a silent hit, by targeting the emotions of teenage audience. Though it’s a commercial hit, but got criticism all over, due to its adult content.

BUS STOP : This is also another youth subject targeted over the present tendency and lifestyles of metro teenagers. The low-budget and the reception from the youth viewers made it a success, but termed as the BOOTHUFUL movie.

OKA ROMANTIC CRIME KATHA : This is the movie of award-winning director of SONTHA OORU fame, Sunilkumar Reddy.  The movie  is said to have been based on the real life incidents in the lives of urban youth and its posters with the caption, PRATI PARADAA VENAKA OKA RAHASYAM UNDI, pulled the eyeballs of the audience and made it a success.
